I.B. FYODOROV AND S.V. SHIMKEVICH HAVE BEEN ELECTED RAEE HONORARY MEMBERS

Igor Borisovich Fyodorov

I. B. Fyodorov is the author of over 200 research papers, including 10 monographs and 15 certificates of authorship. Mr. Fyodorov provides guidance to highly qualified engineering specialists (doctors and candidates of science); over 2000 radio engineers have been educated by I. Fyodorov personally.

I.B. Fyodorov is included into the members of the Research Council of the Russian Security Council, Scientific and Technical Council of the Russian Ministry of Science, Presidium of the Russian State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles; he is the chair of the Council of Rectors of Moscow and Moscow Oblast Higher Educational Institutions; the chair of the Council of the Education Support Association of polytechnic universities; member of the RAEE Board.

Being the President of the Russian Technical Universities Association, I.B. Fyodorov is in charge of enhancing education quality of engineering specialists, increasing the efficiency of research activity, establishing and strengthening international links of Russian higher educational institutions, and solving strategic tasks which face higher education as whole.

For developing scientific concept of university technical education and implementing this concept in Russian higher educational institutions I.B. Fyodorov was awarded the RF President's Prize in 1998, the RF Government Prize in Education in 2002, and the RF Government Prize in Engineering and Technology in 2004.

I.B. Fyodorov was awarded orders and medals of the Russian Federation; he is included into the list of honorary members of a number of Russian and international higher educational institutions.

The Board of Directors of the Russian Association for Engineering Education approved the decision to elect Igor Borisovich Fyodorov, Rector of Bauman Moscow State Technical University, President of technical Universities Association, RAEE honorary members.

 

Sergei Vladimirovich Shimkevich

Sergei Vladimirovich Shimkevich was born on September 24, 1958 in the village of Mirny, Kuibyshev Oblast.

In 1984, S. Shimkevich graduated from Kuibyshev Polytechnic University; in 1999-from the Academy of National Economy (degree: Oil and Gas Fields Development and Exploitation).

After finishing school, Sergei Shimkevich started his working career at the oil-and-gas production department. For two years, Mr. Shimkevich did his military service in the air defense troops in Tajikistan. In 1984, he came back to the oil industry and worked as an oil and gas pumper. Sergei Shimkevich went through all the stages of professional development. From 1984 to 2000 he worked as a current workover rig operator, foreman driller, leading engineer, deputy machine-shop manager, head of the department, head of the oil-and-gas production department. Starting 2000, Mr. has occupied the position of the Director General of OAO Tomskneft VNK.

Sergei Shimkevich is currently working in the economic policy committee of the State Duma of Tomsk Oblast; he is included into the members of the standing commission dealing with the issues of natural resources, oil and gas complex and power engineering.

The Russian Association for Engineering Education collaborates with OAO Tomskneft VNK concerning education of specialists. The Board and the shareholders of the OAO Tomskneft VNK place great emphasis on enhancing and developing higher engineering education in order to educate specialists that can be demanded in the international labour market; they render sponsor assistance to the RAEE in order to accomplish these objectives.
